An urban pilgrim is a modern-day explorer, one who finds meaning and purpose not on ancient trails, but on a journey of curiosity, connection, and creation. This philosophy is the heart of our story.
Austria
It all began in 2019, in a picturesque village called Anger, Austria. Despite its name, "Anger" in old German simply means "a small garden"—a fitting start for a creative seed to be planted. It was here that our founders, Anna and Aftab, launched Urban Pilgrim Creators, producing distinct visual work for clients like the Styrian Summer Art festival, Permed, and Palais Media.
Canada
In 2022, the pilgrimage continued. Anna and Aftab relocated to Ontario, bringing the Urban Pilgrim Creators ethos—and our symbolic camel—with them. Canada offered a new landscape for exploration and a new community to build.
Expansion
2023 the company became officially Canadian, the team expanded, first joining forces with the creative talents of Sobia and Ashfaq, and later, Alina.
Success
This new, international combination of skills and perspectives quickly proved to be award-winning. The team's first collaborative short film, "The Heart Smiles," funded by IFFSA Toronto, earned accolades, cementing the synergy and shared vision of the expanded group.
Festival Run
In 2025 the camel operated from Ottawa and Kitchener, creating content for businesses in Canada and Austria. Phönix, a new pet store came into being. "Kunst im Stadl', an art gallery manifested. We continued our support to KOBV Eggersdorf, a society for disabled and war victims. A definite highlight: "The Heart Smiles" played internationally on 25 festivals winning 7 awards, 2 nominations and 2 honorable mentions..
Vancouver
In spring we relocated from Ottawa to Vancouver, offering our services in and from West End.
